For the past sixteen seasons, Rob Albright's favorite avocation has been helping to describe the action of NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series events on the Performance Racing Network.
Albright has been around racing his entire life, growing up in the Midwest where his dad raced sprint cars in the 1950’s. At age 10, Rob got his first job in motorsports, selling newspapers in the grandstands at the "Indy 500" because he didn’t earn enough allowance to buy a ticket to the race.
After college, while building a career as a Certified Financial Planner, Albright raced in numerous World Karting Association events. After a couple of years behind the wheel, he traded his racing helmet for a microphone as public address announcer at the Indianapolis Speedrome.
In 1987, Rob became the “voice” of the American Speed Association (ASA), eventually co-anchoring the ASA national television broadcasts on TNN. It was in ASA that he met and worked with eventual NASCAR stars Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin, Ted Musgrave, Johnny Benson, and the late Alan Kulwicki.
From 1996 through 2002, Albright served as General Manager for Competitive Group, Inc., a company he formed with Cup driver Johnny Benson. When Benson moved to NASCAR’s Truck Series, Rob joined Action Performance Companies (now Motorsports Authentics) as VP of Strategic Alliances to oversee driver development and the Strategic Asset Marketing Group. Since 2006, Albright has been an independent marketing consultant with clients from both inside and outside of motorsports.
Since 2005, Albright has also served on the Advisory Board of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College’s Motorsports Management Technology program.
Rob and his wife Connie make their home in Concord, N.C., and are both active in leadership at Grace Covenant Church in Huntersville, N.C. They have two daughters, Angela Sackett and Carrie Faulconer, and eight grandchildren; Brian Jr., Joshua, Anna, Ethan, and Isaac Sackett; and Parker, William and Samuel Faulconer
